Seems like I'm doing book reports this week.
Been listening to a lot of Metallica and Megadeth. Must be the RnR Hall of Fame thing they're doing. I'm stoked that their music has held up so damn long.
I just got this from the publisher.
Norma Vee Toraya wrote one of the coolest books on paper puppets and how to make them. She also asked me to contribute a PUPPET of my own. It was a great experience. I got a chance to try something different (not a rock poster coughcough) and got amazing response because of it. I'm screwed cuz I wanna do more paper puppets now.

Check out Norma's site and be amazed at how one person can make paper look cool! You probably own some of her stuff but never thought I'd be cool enough to know her. We are collaborating (I bribed her) on a project in the next couple of weeks.

Thing for a friend.
Hung out at Tara's studio and she hooked me up with a copy of her new book. Worth the price of admission.
My neighborhood has a KISS mural. What you got?
Studio Porn...Slowly getting the new space in shape. Bought some shelves from Ikea and am moving the last of the furniture in. Been interviewing assistants too. Kinda exhaustive. Also trying to stay on top of projects.
Once that's done...I can re-open my web store.

It's 98% done. Just waiting to hear back from the publisher on any changes they might want. Still on schedule to drop July. You can pre order it HERE.

Three artists from Milwaukee are part of a national effort that pays homage to the ultimate rock and roll accessory: the hand-screenprinted concert poster.
Clay Hayes, founder of Gigposters.com, a Web site and message board showcasing "the worlds largest historical gig poster archive," has put together a compilation of rock show art in the form of an interactive book.
"Gig Posters Volume I: Rock Show Art of the 21st Century" (Quirk Books) is a 208-page paperback featuring 101 perforated and ready-to-hang 11x17-in. posters designed by artists from around the globe. The book, which hits the proverbial shelves this April for $40, also includes hundreds of other concert-related images and biographies on the 101 designers.
Three artists that made the cut are from Milwaukee: The Little Friends of Printmaking, Warped Tour artist Brain Ewing (who now lives in Los Angeles) I live in New York. and musician / designer Josh Rickun.
"Gig Posters" is available for purchase via the Gig Posters Web site.

I just got back from SF after spending the week clearing out my storage space. I forgot how much stuff I've produced over the years. Ugh... Boxes and boxes of posters and merch. 55 total... all being shipped via UPS to NY. Oy vey. My back is still hating me. I had to keep my web store closed for almost 6 months until I could find the time (and cash) to take care of this.
Thankfully my good friends Dave Crosland and Mike Sutfin put me up while I was there and let me buy them and their ladies (Kelly and Tonya) food as a thank you. Please check out their sites and hate me for getting to sleep on their couches.
