Poster 2 of 6 for the 2007 Warped Tour. This is my take on the classic question mark/ gypsy girl tattoo motif for THE ALMOST. Their video for "Say This Sooner" deals with time travel and redemption. Kinda like Quantum Leap or Groundhog's Day but as a music video.

Lemme know your thoughts.

Gettin' Lucky On #13 - VANS WARP TOUR 2007

>

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Artist Brian Ewing Gets Lucky with 13th Annual Warped Tour

San Francisco, CA –June 15, 2007-For the fourth year in a row, renowned rock poster artist Brian Ewing has “inked” a deal with sponsor AT&T to produce the artwork for six posters and cell phone graphic downloads for the Vans Warped Tour, “Lucky 13”.
He has designed concert posters and t-shirts for the Vans Warped Tour since 2004, consistently helping to build their brand by creating a definitive image and character for the Tour.

A popular exclusive attraction that will be back at the Warped Tour this year is the AT&T Signing Stage, where fans can meet the band members and get autographs on the official posters illustrated by Brian.

The posters will only be available at the Warped Tour. Posters from previous years have taken on a life of their own, becoming highly sought after by collectors and fans of both the artist and the featured bands. Some fans have even gone so far as to get tattoos of Brian’s distinctive artwork. Coincidently, the Tour’s 2007 visual theme of tattoo art and posters designed to resemble tattoo flash might prompt even more fans to follow suit.

Brian Ewing is a San Francisco based Rock Poster Artist who has worked in the music industry since 2000. For the past three years he has worked and toured with the Vans Warped Tour and the Taste Of Chaos tour. Brian has collaborated with such bands as Queens Of The Stone Age, Billy Idol, Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and My Chemical Romance.

Merch Madness

I'm working on 12 projects right now. And on top of all that i need to produce merch for the SD Comic Con and some art shows going on in Spain and London this year.

So if you have the time, mark which designs you think work best. I'm trying to narrow down the number to 4-5 total.

Charley Harper (1922-2007)

Charley Harper died the other day. If you don't know who he is, take the time to look him up. Amazing work and way ahead of his time. So many people have "borrowed" from this guy's style book.

Rob sent me a pic of the tattoo in progress a few years back and here's the final. It's crazy. I like how he and his tattoo guy took liberties and pushed the illustration more.

Damn! Here's another tattoo Jesse got based on one of my posters. Eventually I'm just going to have Jesse walk into the art director's office and introduce him as my "Portfolio"!

I made a deal with him, if he got a sleeve done based on my artwork that I'd design the other sleeve for him. Looks like I got my work cut out for me.

Check out the TATTOO section to see more of Jesse and his tattoos.

Set Phasers to Stunned

So this blew me away. It's always weird for me to see people with tattoos of my artwork. Weird, only because I never thought "hey, this would make a great tattoo" while I was drawing it for a gig poster.

This is a piece of art that took on a life of its own seconds after they started handing them out to people at the Warped Tour in 2004. And still it finds an audience. Weird...

Sweet Sweet Satan, Cast Your Beautiful Spell On Me

Just got this in the mail today. Yesterday sucked ass, as far as work went, but that's the deal when you do the art thing for a living. So this was nice to get from the DHL dude. It was like Christmas, again.

I'm excited because I vowed to one day own a Coop, original since the first day I saw one of his posters at Atomic Records on the East Side of Milwaukee in Wisconsin. It was the Super Chunk poster and it was 1994. I think I bought a Jesus Lizard cd that day too. I'm old.

Anyways...the line quality is flawless. It's a great piece. All I need is a smoking jacket and some brandy.
Thanks to CJ and COOP.
