FUTURA

Last Summer, my buddy Rich Black asked me to write the forward to his NEW ART BOOK that's being published by Dark Horse Comics. Click the link to see a preview of the book.

Not an easy task, since I ain't no writer person and junk. I did my best by mentioning the poster scene, when we first met and Rich's impact on the music scenes he did posters for. Basically I read everyone else's forwards to all of the other rock poster books and did the opposite.

The book hits the shelves 1/16/08 but you can pre-order it from the link I posted.

Rock To Roll POSTER and HOW-TO Shennanigans

Latest project I finished. It's for Joe Sib of www.sideonedummy.com and to benefit Wheels For Humanity. This is the 2nd year I've designed the poster for the Rock To Roll Bash. Bands that will be playing are Flogging Molly and Bouncing Souls.

WFH.07.FINAL.RGB.jpg

Here's the final piece. It's supposed to run in the LA WEEKLY soon. Then a poster, a shirt and a 16x20 foot backdrop.

I tried a few different things on this that I haven't really explored before. I think I did a better job than my poster for last year's event.

Whatever's Cool - Process Thread

Originally uploaded by brianewingdotcom.

Here's a PROCESS THREAD on how I sketched, pencilled, and inked the Dino Jr poster. Hopefully it will give people some insight to how I work and the tools I use in the process.

I finally have a place to direct people when they ask me about technique.

I've never really done one of these process threads with so much detail. Lemme know what you think.

Now go buy shit from my site!

Fearless Vampire Buckle

Originally uploaded by brianewingdotcom.

David Clark and I collaborated on a belt buckle for the fun of it. David is an awesome jewelry maker and sculptor who (by chance) lives a few blocks from me. He showed me some of his work and I asked if we could do a project together. Let me know what you think. Should I get a bunch made?

It's based off the "Fearless Vampire Killers" piece I did.

STICK A FORK IN ME

green.ladies

Hey everyone. Comic Con is finally over! For all of the people looking to purchase the exclusive "Ltd Ed shirts" or "Burnt Out" prints should sign up for my mailing list if they already haven't. I socked away a few copies of the poster after getting a ton of email from people that couldn't make it to the convention. The shirts sold better than expected so it will be first come first served when they go online.

The convention RULED! Met tons of new friends and hung out with some old ones too. "Becky Cloonan" and "Vasilis Lolos" don't count since I didn't get to take them on a wild goose chase this year in search for food.

I'm going to be swamped for the next week trying to catch up on work and maybe (if I'm lucky) sleep. If you don't hear back from me, you will soon enough.

All orders will resume shipping next week. Thanks for being patient, you will get extra new stuff thrown into your orders.

NEW Shizzirts for Comizzic Con

Just got these from the printer yesterday. They'll be available at the SD Comic Con booth#433. In men's and women's sizes. Printed with water-base inks.

These are limited to 144 pieces each and won't be available on my site until August 1st.

More info here brianewing.com

I'm really happy with how they turned out. I think they look better than any other shirts I've had produced. Even though there is a lot of coverage the inks are water-based so you can breath in the shirt. Unlike the Plastisol inks that feel like a sheet of plastic on your chest.

The shirts are currently being carried at the TOYROOM in Sacramento, CA. Only available in the store and not online.
